Keith Reynolds

2017 - Second place was awarded to a self-employed heating and cooling specialist from Labette City, KS. Keith Reynolds has attended Winfield 12 times and attends other contests like the Lone Star Dulcimer and Mountain View contests. Keith also plays the guitar, the bowed psaltery and the mandolin. When not working or playing music he likes to do wood working. As a result of his second place finish he won $150, the 2nd Place Trophy and a 6FHWR-E Baritone Mountain Dulcimer by the Dulcimer Shoppe/McSpadden Mountain Dulcimers of Mountain View, AR.

Matthew Hathaway

2017 - First place was awarded to a 24-yer old musician by the name of Matthew Hathaway of FT. Worth, TX. He has entered this contest only two times, the last time was in 2009. He attends other festivals like the Texas State Dulcimer Festival. Since it had been 8-years since he had been to Winfield Matt wanted to come and compete and have a good time jamming with others. This talented musician also plays the guitar, piano, mandolin the ocarina and the tin whistle.

Michael Poole

2017 - Third place went to a person who is making only his second time to enter this contest. Michael Poole of Chapel Hill, NC made the cut to the final 5 in the 2016 competition. Michael is a Physician’s Assistant who says he is about to retire. He likes to attends other festivals like Mountain Laurel. Michael also plays the piano, mountain dulcimer and the guitar. His favorite thing to do in Winfield is jam out in the campgrounds. His hobbies include horses, singing and gardening.

Karen Nickel

2017 - Second place was awarded to Karen Nickel of Winfield, KS. Karen wasn’t going to enter the competition this year, but the first place winner, Cindy Harris caller her at 7:30 AM one morning and convinced her to enter, and it paid off for her. Karen is has attended the Festival for the past 24 years and lives just a stone’s throw away from the Festival grounds. Karen says her two hobbies are, of course, the autoharp and geocaching.
