Tyler Andal

2017 - On his fourth trip to Winfield and the Festival Tyler Andal of Nashville, TN took first place in this contest. He placed 2nd in last year’s competition and also made the cut to five in the 2016 mandolin competition. By trade, Tyler considers himself a violin luthier and specializes in bow construction and repair. He has attended other festivals like the Tennessee Valley Fiddler’s Convention. Tyler says “I play anything with strings,” and that list includes mandolin, old time banjo, guitar, bass …. His hobbies include, of course, violins, wood working and then there is motorcycles and water sports. For his efforts he selected the Maciej Lacek Master Fiddle represented by the Beautiful Music Violin Shop of Lawrence, KS. He also won the 1st Place Trophy and a check for $275.


2016 - The second place winner entered this contest for the first time. Tyler Andal is a 28-year old musician from Nashville, TN. He is also a bow specialist at the Violin Shop in Nashville. This talented young man also enters the dulcimer, mandolin and guitar contest here at the Festival. Tyler is also the National Old Time Banjo Champion and the Traditional Grand Master Fiddle Champion. He has been playing the fiddle for the past 16 years and says he enjoys playing anything with strings including the bass. Tyler has a CD available called “Rumple Force.” In addition he is a motorcycle enthusiast who loves water sports and wood working and as he says doing anything will make him money. Tyler enjoys watching the entertainers on stage at the Festival and thrives on the competition of the various contests. For his efforts he won the 2nd Place Trophy and the Heinrich Gill X-7 Fiddle represented by the Beautiful Music Violin Shop of Lawrence, KS.
