Nick Forster & Friends

Years at Winfield:

Nick Forster, as many Hot Rize fans know, is the only man in the world who was born in Beirut, Lebanon, was bitten by a weasel and has played on the Grand Ol’ Opry. He grew up in the Hudson River Valley of New York, but has lived in Colorado for most of his life.

In addition to Nick’s 21-year career as Hot Rize bassist, emcee and stellar harmony singer (who bore more than a little resemblance to Wendell Mercantile), Nick is the founder and host of e-town, one of the most successful syndicated radio shows in the country. On every e-town show, which is carried by more than 110 radio stations every week, Nick interviews many of today’s top performers, authors, poets and politicians. He plays guitar for the e-tones, the house band that regularly backs up musical guests like James Taylor, Taj Mahal, Shawn Colvin and Emmylou Harris. In addition, Nick has been producing records for Winfield favorites like Marley’s Ghost and Kate MacKenzie, whose most recent effort was nominated for a Grammy Award.

Nick will be teaming up with two of his oldest friends and musical partners: Dan Wheetman and Kate MacKenzie. Expect a couple of surprises as these three cover a wide range of material on a variety of instruments.

Nick adds, "Bob asked me to put something together for Winfield that reflected my recent work. Since it would be tough to bring the radio show to Winfield, I thought about trying to capture some of the fun I had working with Kate and Dan on their last records."
