Kacey Musgraves

Years at Winfield:

2003 bio - Kacey Musgraves is a young teenager from Mineola, TX with a terrific voice. In addition to her singing, she has the added talent of yodeling. At the age of 14, she was selected to attend the 2002 Winter Olympics in Utah, where she performed at the Wild West Show. One of the highlights of this trip to the Olympics was appearing on the NBC “Today Show” serenading Katie Couric and Matt Lauer in 18 degree weather. To show how talented she is, Kacey is the youngest person ever to have received the “Yodeler of the Year” award at the 2002 Will Rogers Cowboy Awards, sponsored by the Academy of Western Artists. In 2001 she won the “International Youth Yodeling Championship” held in Tucson, AZ. Then in May of 2002 she won the “Patsy Montana National Yodeling Championship.”

Kacey has performed at places most artists only wish they could perform. In January 2000 she performed at the Black Tie and Boots Inaugural Ball in Washington D.C. where she got to sing on stage with Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel. She also performed on the same venue with Clint Black, Tanya Tucker, Ricky Skaggs, Mark Chestnut, Gary P. Nunn and Holly Dunn. Kacey also got the chance to perform for First Lady, Laura Bush at the opening of the “Rainbow Room for abused children”. As you can see, Kacey has performed at some of the top country venues. She also performs, scheduling permitting, at the monthly “Buckaroos” gathering at the Cowtown Opry at the Ft. Worth, TX Stockyards. Yodeling takes a special talent and this is one young lady you won’t want to miss.
